KSC Family Day.

Family Day out at KSC was pretty cool. I was excited to be able to show the kids my office and what interesting things that I get to see everyday. We got to walk all over the 1st floor of the VAB. The kids got to see how big it is inside and where the Shuttle mates to the fuel tank and boosters. This pic was taken a long time ago. I added it because I just love it and because we didn't get to go out to the pads to see the shuttles because we ran out of time.
If you look close you can see us on the ship. This is the ship that retrieves the boosters after they crash into the ocean during the shuttles trip to the space station. We were able to see the living quarters and the engine room. It's pretty roomy down there.
In this pic we are in the orbiter processing facility (OPF). Not everyone that works at KSC has the authority to enter this building. Only people that process the shuttle. I have a pass. Yea me. I don't actually process the shuttle but my boss does and I help with little things. Its hard to tell from the photo but the kids are just a few feet from the space shuttle. Alexis is looking up at the belly. Pretty cool huh? I think so anyways.
That concludes KSC family day!!
